EFY!!!

First off i want to say efy was hands down the most spiritual experience i have ever had. I had the best time of my life in 5 short days. The first day was registration. My cousins and i signed in, got our t-shirts, our efy handbooks, wristbands (which i still have on), efy CD, and name tag. After we signed in we got to walk around the church for a little bit. As i was walking around with my cousin one boy thought i was someone named Mena and called for me. I turned around and introduced myself. I met my first friend who I'm still in touch with. His name is Jordan, and he lived about 20 minutes from the efy church building. Along with him my cousin and i also met his 4 friends. Tyler (who i still talk to), Broc, Stratton (i still talk to him too), and Taylor. They all lived in Ogden and had known each other since they were little. We hung out with them until it was time to meet our group. We got into our group and got to know each other there were 9 of us 10 if you included our counselor. We had a fun time the whole week we got to be like a little family. We met with our group twice a day once in the morning and once at the end of the day. We told each other everything, and our lessons always ended up with us talkin about which boys we liked haha. Our counselor's name was Jessica, she was 19 so she was pretty much one of us, we treated her as more of a best friend then a leader :] After we met our group, we got to meet our company. Our company consisted of two girl groups and one big guy group. When we met our company we had our two friends from earlier in our company, Tyler and Broc. Once everyone was situated everyone had to stand up and introduce themselves and tell where they were from. For the most part everyone was from Utah. We had one person from Las Vegas, one from Oregon, and one from Arizona. Of course i lived the farthest away...when everyone heard i was from Alabama, they thought i was kiddin but as i talked more they believed me cause of my accent :] After everyone introduced themselves i made some more friends, Alex from Utah (I'm still in touch with him), Bret from Arizona (i still talk to him too), and Nate from Oregon. They were all brothers, not biological obviously, they were all half brothers. Through out the week i hung out with them alot and my cousin hung out with the other group of boys more. Later that night we had family home evening. We had a lesson with our company and we moved over to an open field next to the church for games. We played alot of games and just basically had alot of fun. Tuesday we had classes, those were fun. In one of the classes Broc, Tyler, Jordan, Stratton, and Taylor hung out with us. We were drawing pictures in our little note books the whole time lol. Later that night we had a dance. I was dancing with someone when he asked where i was from. When i told him i was from Alabama he freaked out and said "OOH YOUR ALABAMA GIRL?!?!?" thus my nickname was born :] I later found out that my friend Alex had told everyone to call me that, i didnt care i like havin nicknames. Its funny though cause every now and then i would dance with someone who knew me but i had no idea who they were just for the fact that i was the only person in all of efy from Alabama. Wednesday was classes again. During free time on Wednesday was tryout time for the variety show. I was sitting on a couch with my cousin when my friends Alex and Nate came and asked me to try out with them. so i got up and started walkin with them. They told me that all i had to do was introduce the band and then snap my fingers with their cousin Stephanie. We walked into the room and i introduced the band and moved to the back to snap my fingers. After they were done singing their song the counselors asked where i was from so i told them and then they said ok well what if you introduce half of the people that are goin to be performing? So i walked out of the tryout room introducing half the people only intending to introduce one haha. Thursday was Sunday dress day. The classes were so much fun and very spiritual. I learned alot about the For Strength of Youth too. Later that day we made knit hats for a charity. My cousin and i had to start over a couple of times because we messed it up but we finally got it write towards the end. After lunch was the variety show so i had to eat lunch fast and get to the gym so we could go through the show one time. When it was time for the show everyone started to poor in and sit down. The show went well and everyone did a good job. We had another dance later that night, and just like the dance earlier in the week, people knew me but i didnt know them. As the dance came to a close one of my friends Meghan picked up her phone only to find that the screen was cracked. She flipped out...it was kinda funny though, not the fact her phone was cracked but how she was flippin out. The next day, Friday, was the last day of efy. In my opinion Friday was the best day out of the week. We had 2 long classes then lunch and then one last class. Afterwards we all met in the gym for the closing assembly. We had a slide show and we sang the efy medley. As soon as we said the closing prayer i broke down. I just couldnt stop crying to save my life. I didnt want efy to end i had met so many people and had so many good experiences. I was very sad to leave i didnt want to. My cousin and i were invited to go to this place called Jakes over the top to hang out with some people from efy. My cousin didnt want to go but i did so she went home. I stayed at Jakes for i little while and hung out with my friends until i had to go. It was another sad goodbye BUT i didnt cry :] i was all dry i didnt have anymore tears left in me! As i already said efy was hands down the most spiritual experience i have ever had in my whole life. I dont think anything will ever be able to top it. I take that back NOTHING will ever top it. Im excited about goin again next year, im already looking forward to it.

Chelsea, Thanks for sharing your experiences at EFY with us. I'm glad you had such a good time. You should definitely come back every year. And bring your family, too. You and your cousin are so cute together. I'm not surprised that y'all were so popular with the guys. It was so great to see y'all this summer. We miss your family. Good luck in the new school year, Alabama Girl.

It sounds like you had a great time! I'm really glad that you had the opportunity to go. I think it is such a neat experience and hope that Ariel and Cecily can go when they get old enough. Thanks for blogging about it FINALLY (you know I'm kidding).

I am so glad you blogged about EFY, it sounds wonderful. I really want Ross to go when he is old enough. Maybe he and Dylan and Hannah and Ariel and Ethan will all be going together. I hope you can hold onto that Spirit all year long!
